Acer palmatum ‘Suminagashi’ is one of the best of the red Matsumurae group with a strong growth habit, upright and a well branched shape. The seven-lobed leaves appear rich, dark purple and darken to become very deep maroon, almost black in the summer. In the autumn, they gradually turn crimson-red. A spectacular variety that brings all year round colourful interest. Perfect for small gardens or planting in a large container. A similar variety to ‘Beni-kagami and ‘Yezo-nishiki’.
